Citibank Pulls Out of Qatar
Citibank has announced the sale, effective at the end of this month, of its sole Qatari branch, in Doha. The branch recorded a loss in 1986 and is being sold to Alahli Bank of Qatar, which has grown rapidly since it was established in 1984, although with total assets of QR362mn at the end of 1986 it is still tiny compared with the two dominant local banks, Qatar National Bank (QNB) and Doha Bank (MEES, 4 May)....
