New Oil Discovery by Sonatrach
The Algerian national oil company Sonatrach has discovered oil near Adrar, some 750 miles south-west of Algiers in the Sahara. According to an official announcement on 17 December the discovery well, Decheira one, found oil at a depth of 600 meters. Although the statement gave no further details, it added that the strike was one of the most important discoveries by Sonatrach to date.
