US Attempts to Impose New Sanctions against Libya
The US administration is planning to impose new trade restrictions against Libya through the extension of sanction measures to US subsidiaries in Europe and the requirement of certificates of origin for petroleum products imported to the US from European refineries. Ambassador Vernon Walters, US envoy to the UN, is scheduled to visit several European capitals this week to solicit the support of US allies for these measures.
