Oman Mining Company Produces 15,000 Tons of Copper in 1984
The state-owned Oman Mining Company (OMC), which operates Oman's copper mining project at the northern town of Sohar, produced in 1984 - the first full year of its operation - a total of 15,060 tons of refined copper worth some $21mn. The company also produced in 1984 5,900 tons of chromite, 1,600 kgs. of silver and 52.5 kgs. of gold, all worth a total of $1.65mn.
