Majlis Approves Supreme Energy Council
Iran痴 Majlis(parliament) has approved the formation of a high council to deal with energyaffairs, according to a report by official news agency IRNA on 9 April. This follows the cabinet痴 vote last year to forma Supreme Energy Council to coordinate energy policy, after the rejection of aproposal to merge the Ministries of Petroleum and Energy in a bid to centralizeand streamline energy industry policy (MEES,30 July 2001).
