Tavanir Signs Western Consortium to Build 1,100MW Powerplant
Iran's state-owned power company, Tavanir, has awarded a $770mn turnkeycontract to build a 1,100 megawatt power station near Arak in the centralMarkazi Province to a consortium comprised of Canadian and European companies.The contract calls for the construction of two 550 megawatt units, the first ofwhich will begin generating power in 1996, and the second in 2000. Constructionwill begin this year.
