Sudan Lifts Product Subsidies, Fearing Libyan Oil Embargo
Sudan ended subsidies for gasoline and diesel fuel as of 8 April inanticipation of a cut-off of oil supplies from neighboring Libya. The price forthe products more than doubled as a result, with the cost of gasoline risingfrom S50 ($0.55) per gallon to S110 ($1.22), and diesel fuel rising fromS40 ($0.44) per gallon to S110 ($1.22).
