Four Iraqi Tankers Sunk during Gulf War, Four Abandoned
Four Iraqi oil tankers were sunk in the waters off Kuwait and Iraq during theGulf War and another four were badly damaged and abandoned, according to theLondon daily Lloyd's List. The shipping newspaper said on 4 April that theInternational Maritime Organization (IMO) had identified seven of the ships andwas helping to coordinate efforts to stop oil pollution from the sunken vessels.
