Iraq Attacks Turkish Tanker; Iran Retaliates
On 1 May the 132,250 dwt Turkish tanker Burak M was attacked by Iraqi aircraft at 0130 GMT some 70 miles south of Iran's main oil export terminal at Kharg Island. The tanker, owned by Um Denizcilik ve Ticaret of Istanbul, was carrying a cargo of 120,000 tons of Iranian crude for the Turkish state-owned refinery company, Turkiye Petrol Rafinerileri (Tupras).
