US Imports Pass 50% Mark in January

Statistics released by the American Petroleum Institute (API) show that USimports of crude and products accounted for a record 54% of domestic consumptionin January, totaling 9.13mn b/d as against 7.975mn b/d in January 1989. TheAPI notes that January imports were about 1mn b/d higher than normal due to coldweather in December which depleted heating oil stocks, but adds that"although temporary factors contributed...
