IEA Head Opposes US Oil Import Fee
The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Mrs. Helga Steeg, has come out strongly against the imposition of any tax or fee on US oil imports. Speaking in Washington on 2 April, Mrs. Steeg said that "an oil import fee would be difficult to operate, would generate unacceptable economic costs, and would gravely hamper and distort international trade in energy."
