Proved Oil Reserves Stand at 1,541Mn Barrels
According to the January 1986 issue of Energy and Development, the monthly magazine published by the Syrian state-owned General Petroleum Company (GPC), the country's proved oil reserves are currently estimated at 245mn cu. ms. (1,541mn barrels) and those of gas at 124bn cu. ms. (4,378bn cu. ft.). These do not include recent discoveries which are still in the evaluation stage in preparation for the start of production.
