Sumed Throughput Down 32% Since 1981 

The throughput of Sumed - the twin 42-inch, 320-km. pipeline linking 'Ain Sukhna in the Gulf of Suez to Sidi Kerir west of Alexandria on the Mediterranean - fell by 31.8% from 66mn tons of oil in 1981 to 45mn tons in 1984, according to Lloyd's List of London on 19 August. However the pipeline managed to increase its share of total crude flows from the Gulf to Europe from 25% in 1981 to 37.5% in 1984.
