QATAR
New Qatari Economy Minister Named
The Amir of Qatar, Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, on 30 December named Shaikh Muhammad bin Ahmad Al Thani as the countrys new Economy Minister. Shaikh Muhammad, who was previously manager of LNG transportation at Qatar Petroleum (QP), replaces Shaikh Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani, who had held the post since the portfolio was split off from the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Trade in 2001.
