Saudi Shura Council Rejects Expatriate Income Tax
Saudi Arabias Shura Council, a consultative 120-member appointed body, has rejected a proposed 10% income tax to be imposed on expatriate workers by a 73 majority. The bill had stipulated that foreigners would pay 10% on any monthly income over SR3,000 ($800), and will now be sent back to the financial committee of the council which will redraft it in light of the councils recommendations.
