Having Once Left, Foreign Banks May not Return to UAE
Foreign banks that pulled out of the UAE in the early 1980s are not welcometo return to resume operations, according to the UAE's Minister of State forFinancial and Industrial Affairs, Mr. Ahmad al-Tayir. Mr. Tayir was quoted bylocal newspapers on 28 January as saying that "it is a matter ofcommitment. They came to us at a time of prosperity and pulled out incrisis."...
