Sudan Issues New Currency
The Sudanese Government last week issued a new currency - the Sudanese Dinar- which will gradually replace the Sudanese Pound. According to the Governor ofthe Central Bank of Sudan, Mr. al-Shaikh Sayyid Ahmad, the new dinar will beworth Sœ10, with both currencies legal tender for some time, and theintroduction of the new currency will help cut printing costs from $83mn to$17.7mn.
