US Grants Sudan $25mn
USAID has agreed to grant Sudan $25mn to finance the import of petroleum products, according to Dr. Bashir Omar, Sudan's Minister of Finance, in a statement issued on 2 September following a meeting in Khartoum with Mr. Frederick Gilbert, Deputy Director of USAID. The US plans to grant Sudan $152.8mn during the current fiscal year, $50mn of this total having already been delivered in the form of food aid.
