Iran and Soviet Union Inaugurate Work on Aras River Dams
Construction work for two dams on the Aras River were inaugurated on 15November by Iranian and Soviet officials. The $538mn joint project is part of a$6bn economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation agreement signed byIran and the Soviet Union in June 1989 (for full text of agreement, see MEES, 10July 1989).
