HADEED Produces First Million Tons of Steel Billets
The Saudi Iron and Steel Company (HADEED), which went on stream in January 1983, on 12 November completed the production of its first million tons of steel billets from its Jubail plant. The HADEED iron and steel complex - owned 86% by SABIC and 14% by Korf-Stahl of West Germany - has a design capacity to produce some 850,000 tons/year of rein- forcing bars and rods, to be used mainly for local consumption.
