Sudan Grants Gold Mining Concession to an Arab Islamic Firm
The Sudanese Government has signed a gold mining contract with the Arab Islamic firm Dar Ta'din al-Umma (DTU) - the National Mining House - covering a total area of some 100,000 sq. kms. in eastern and southern Sudan. Of this area, some 75,000 sq. kms. lie in the Blue Nile region of Kurmuk and Qeissan in eastern Sudan and the remaining 25,000 sq. kms. in the Kapoeta area in the south of the country.
