US CongressVotes To Extend ILSA For Five Years
The US Senatevoted on 25 July to extend for five years the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act of 1996(ILSA), which is due to expire on 5 August. The House of Representativesapproved a slightly different bill on 26 July, which would also extend ILSA forfive years. The votes overrode a campaign by the administration to renew ILSAfor only two years in order to give President Bush some flexibility in hisdealings with Tehran....
