Egypt Earns $632.5mn from Sumed Since 1977
Egypt has earned a total of $632.5mn from the Sumed (Suez-Mediterranean)crude oil transit pipeline since January 1977 when the line went on stream,according to the Cairo daily al-Ahram of 4 May. This is more than three timesEgypt's share of $200mn out of Sumed's capital of $400mn. The rest of thecapital is owned by Saudi Arabia ($60mn), Abu Dhabi ($60mn), Kuwait ($60mn) andQatar ($20mn).
