Iran Threatens to Confiscate Cargo Destined for Iraq
Iran has threatened to continue confiscating cargo shipped to Iraq through the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The Iranian News Agency (IRNA) on 23 July quoted Captain Muhammad Husain Malekzadegan, the commander of the Iranian navy, as saying the navy "would, according to international maritime laws, confiscate any cargo destined to help the Iraqi war effort, through these sea routes."
