Turkmenistan Gas Production Drops In 1998, Oil Output Up
Turkmenistans state-owned gas company Turkmengaz announced on 14 January that the country produced 13.2bn cu. ms. (BCM) of natural gas during 1998, a decline of 31% from 17.3BCM in 1997 (MEES, 2 February 1998). The company placed the reason for the decline in production squarely on its problems with Russias Gazprom, which has refused to transport Turkmen gas to other markets due to a dispute over pricing...
