QGPC Signs Agreement For Qacenco's Methanol/MTBE Project
The Qatar General Petroleum Corporation (QGPC) on 14 October signed an agreement with Malaysia's Petronas and Penspen of the UK for the setting up of a joint-venture firm, the Qatar Clean Energy Company (Qacenco), which will construct a plant at Umm Said at an estimated cost of $400mn for the production of 2,500 tons/day of methanol using 90mn cu. ft./day of North Field gas as feedstock.
