Fire at Jubail Refinery Reduces Throughput Slightly
The Samarec/Shell joint venture export refinery at Jubail, which was damagedby fire at the end of May, is still operating at some 80% of capacity, accordingto Saudi oil executives. The refinery with a design capacity of 250,000 b/d, hadbeen operating at some 300,000 b/d at the height of the Gulf war. The fireoccurred at the hydrogen compression section of a hydrocracker unit which hadto be shutdown....
